So I decided my next project is going to be "A Game of Thrones" themed terminator army. I am thinking Black Templar, since I already have all the models to build a decent list. The idea is to make the paint scheme look like the Starks of Winterfell.
I sculpted tabards and robes on all of my terminators using green stuff and it actually turned out looking pretty decent.
Here is my problem. I tried a test model last night, and it looked like crap. Here is what I attempted: -chainmail armor -white hammer with dark blue head -white emblems -grey cloak with white trim -grey shield with white trim -Light black wash (custom blend)
The problem I am facing is that the chainmail blends too much with the grey of the cloak. The white and blue both looked okay. I was thinking maybe of painting white armor? It's either that or black. Neither fit the Stark theme.
Suggestions?

Preface: I don't watch Game of Thrones.
Can you make the cloak dark grey, and go to Mithril Silver equivalent for the chainmail? How about gold chainmail? Or bronze? Mix blue ink in and do metallic blue chainmail?

Not a bad idea. Would blue India ink mix with mithil without adding something to it?

It should, as the paints are just matte medium with water and pigment. Your India ink may mix, although I would strongly advise an acrylic ink. Hobby Lobby has a good selection, and Dick Blick has some incredible acrylic inks.
