| This afternoon after talking with Capnwoodrow about the gencon trip, I mentioned that I might be picking up a starter box and rule book for Malifaux over the next few weeks. I figured I'd post up here to see if there is any interest in it.
The game is a lot different from the other Mini-skirmish games we've been playing around here. The characters have a lot more depth, the game is played with 6-10 mini's, and the game mechanics are not based on dice. The game uses a playing card deck to determine the results of magic and combat. The game looks like it should be alot of fun and not very bad to get into.
If your interested in learning more you can check out Wyrd Miniatures site to read up on the game. Here are two links to Youtube that show the game in action:

| The rules sound very interesting, but I don't care for the miniatures so I decided to steer clear. | |

| If I can garner enough interest I will carry the line. My distributor's president talked to the Malifaux people at Gencon and was very impressed. They will be carrying them and my rep was trying to get me to get started with them immediately.

| Chris, for what it's worth, it's been a mild success at BDG. Probably worth carrying if the interest is there. | |

| I'm a fan of malifaux and told Haren, hands down, i'll buy a crew if he does. I was really impressed by it at GCon, i'd even work out some Demo events at the local store (obviously, if I have invested in it then i will want players). Minimal cost - just need a starter box for your crew, the 'fate' deck can be used as a set of regular playing cards.
@Fletch - yup. I was there, in all of its nerdy glory.

Define garner enough interest. If you mean people getting down there and playing then that probably means we have our first crews and won't really need much in the way of merchandise... If you're just wanting a headcount of people shopping for Malifaux stuff, then i'm on that list!

If you're just wanting a headcount of people shopping for Malifaux stuff, then i'm on that list! I just wanted a head count on the shopping part. I have garnered enough interest so I will be carrying Malifaux minis. Let me know if I can order anything specific for anyone. Can we get a special game night for it or should we just say that Tuesday is our table top minis game ight, bring what you want to play? I prefer the Tuesday Tabletop Minis thing; but I will bow to the higher authorities: the customers.

| There r 2 rulebooks at 35 each, really don't have to get the second one to start, faction boxes are 32-40 bucks and that will get you around 75% of a normal size faction but is plenty to start with. | |

| the average battle is 25-30 soul stones (points system for the game). This equals out to be 7-10 models.
If I'm reading the things I'm finding on the intertoobs right the box is something like 15-18 stones, though this might be off a bit. They have 5-6 models in the crew boxes.
The boxes are 30-45 bucks depending on the crew. Individual models run roughly 3-12 bucks. Multi-model boxes run 25-30. Wyrd also has scene base inserts for 10-15 for a set. Fate decks are optional (they run 8 bucks though so it's not much more than a deck of poker cards which usually run 2 bucks.) As Fletch said the main rule book is 35 bucks.
In total you'll spend 100 to 150 on a crew and rules.
Oh and if your going to geek out like i probably will with this game, Battlefoam also has a Malifaux custom bag for 70.

Since my Tuesday class is from 6-8:30 pm I don't know how often i can make anything those nights. I'd be more interested in playing it on Sundays from 3-6 (Also when I'm going to start being there for WM)

| Malifaux has taken pretty well up here in Springfield. Its a fun game to dive into, I really like a lot of the minis and the designs for the new stuff look even better. It also a good game to get new people into a skirmish game as it doesn't take a ton of stuff to start playing.
The only thing I would watch for is the fact people can get frustrated playing certain box set against others. The balance on some of the starters is a bit off. But as long as people know that going in, its not too bad.
