50 points left over, even. Would be funny as hell to play, especially going second.

Would be fun to play.

Why 3 empty drop pods?

Because you have to have them to get that many guys in wave 1. =)

The empties "belong" to the DakkaDreds.

I'm a bit confused. Because of drop pod assault, you are podding 2 empty pods on turn one, and one on turn 2. These would have to be empy unless they held their parent unit.

This would leave all your DC, honor guard, 2 DC dreds , and dakka dreads and your librarian dreds walking across the board

If you were deepstriking the assault squads w packs, they would come in earliest at turn 2....


Maybe I am missing something here, but I don't see why you need the pods to get that many guys in wave one?

Ah, I see the confusion.

I flagged it "Drop Pod BA list" but I didn't note that all of wave 1 and wave 2 had drop pods. =)

13 drop pods total, 7 wave 1, 6 wave 2, 3 of the wave 2 ones are empty.

And that would be madness. That many drop pods would make targetting everything in your army a nightmare. All of wave one have locator beacons?

It would be a lot of kill points sitting on the board, but having that much in your face would be short of impossible to deal with. I think an opponent would have to reserve everything against the list to have a chance to get you to spread out.

No locator beacons at all. The drop pod rules should minimize scatter enough (drop an assault squad between an enemy unit and your pod and it likely won't scatter far enough to clear either, so it stays pretty much in place, and you jump out with 2 meltaguns).

Only 25 guys to grab objectives. KP is high, granted, but you'd be able to get a bunch of KP back being in your opponent's zone like that. 27 total KP isn't THAT high for mech ard boyz.

Is this a for fun list or are you thinking about it?

I love painting dreads .... 13 pods would be a nightmare though!

This would be more for fun. I doubt it's hyper competitive; the BA lists I'm SERIOUSLY considering would be far more expensive, unfortunately.

If I did it, I'd do 13 closed drop pods and just paint the outsides. MAYBE leave the Death Company and Honor Guard pods with opening doors...

Drop pods aren't that hard to do. You just have to make sure you throw them against the wall - makes all the difference in the world.

Just for fun, I'd like to take this to a 1-day local tournament (CHG's monthly, or Hobbytown's bi-monthly, etc):

Librarian (Preferred Enemy, 5+ cover save), Epistolary, Jump Pack, Infernus Pistol (goes with death company)
10 man Assault Squad, 2* Meltagun, Infernus pistol
30 man Death Company, Jump Packs, Lemartes, 3* Infernus Pistol, 3* Thunderhammer, 5* Power Weapon, Power Fist

You'd obliterate the kill point mission badly, and probably do okay in the objective missions if you can go second by contesting the hell out of their side of the board.
