PostSubject: Question about resin models   Question about resin models Icon_minitime23rd September 2013, 10:42 pm

I have not worked with forge world models before and I was wondering what type of glue to assemble the models with. plastic model glue or super glue? do i need to use a different glue if i am gluing the parts to a plastic model?

thanks!

I think Superglue is what forgeworld recommends. I'd use the gorilla brand superglue, or the thick super glue from hobbylobby.

Plastic glue won't work.

I find that any regular super glue does an even better job with resin. Make sure to wash it with soap before you apply though. Those forge world models come infected with casting residue.

I'll second bdix, resin models tend to have release agent left on them. Paint and even glue has a hard time sticking to it, a little soapy (warm, not hot) water and no more release agent. I keep a plastic bin around to soak resins when I get them (bases and models) and haven't had any troubles with blotchy priming, etc since.

^^^ Gypsy tears also work to remove casting residue.
