Okay, from reading through the book on the ride home, what little research I did before leaving for Austin, and a bit of talking with Monkey and Jester, this is what I've come up with for a rough first draft. There are really only 2 things I wanted in the list (and the more I try to fit them both the more I'm convinced I can't effectively) are Beastmasters and the large unit of Hellions+Baron. I really don't like not having Scourges OR Reavers, but like I said the goal was to fit in BM and Hellions.

Your scoring troops have Blasters, and your elites who you can afford to sacrifice have Dark Lances. I'd swap that.

Outside of that, i think the biggest thing is you'll need a ton of actual practice time with the army.

I picked the Trueborn to be Dark Lance caddies because they could take 2 per unit but you make a good point. Probably should find a way to shave off 100 points to make the switch.

This is actually half the reason I'm interested in playing them. Hoping that playing non-marines will help me with the game overall.

Just IMO, playing tons more games would have a better effect. =)

Adjusted the list a little, still haven't been able to find enough points to make the Troops the Dark Lance units but I have been able to adjust the BM units to have 2 smaller ones and increase the lance caddy units, at the cost of the Venom Trueborn. I also had to drop the FF on the Ravagers, but the raiders are there to give them cover saves any way so that shouldn't be too big I hope. I think it's better overall.

The only thing I'd say is that you're going to have to leave at least one troop unit back to hold your home objective. The blasters won't reach anything in that case. You should either take a raider unit with Dark Lance or a unit of Wyches to put down any encroaching enemy units.
