| How do you feel about the Indy GT Chaos Dwarf book?
Just curious...
Totally not building an army of them.../shifty eyes

It is a book written by some tournament goers, yes Indy GT tournament goers, but it is not GW's doing. It was a solid attempt to allow the army, and the list is not really bad, but it is not official. If you allow it at tournaments, you are opening up a can of worms that doesn't need to be opened. Now, is it OK to allow a Slayer army that the Indy GT folks wrote? Is it OK to allow any variant list that Indy GT folks write?

| It's really a moot point as I don't have a single Dwarf of Chaos model, I was just curious as a collector what your opinion as a TO on it was.
Can of worms? Maybe. I know Sooie lays out fairly clear guidelines of what is acceptable and what it isn't. It seems like you can say "Chaos Dwarfs in, Slayer list out." Or allow all of the Indy Gt lists. To my knowledge none of the Indy lists really dominate the Indy scene, so I don't think any local players would boo hoo about facing them.
Again, just chewing fat.

| The real problem in allowing NON GW lists into any event is - What if they win? Then you have all the participants telling the event organizer how broken the army was, and that they favored the player that brought it. Especially bad if the player that brings the variant list and wins is a local player. Then you get the reputation you don't want. | |

| Not to mention that as a GW qualifier it probably would not go over very well to include an army not designed by GW. Again, if you won you couldn't very well take that army to Vegas! | |

| All of my responses past this point really turn into thoughts on the metagame, which isn't the purpose of this thread, but I definitely wouldn't mind picking your brain on it sometime.
I can't wait to come check out Sooie! I know the McFadden and I are both excited about window-watching this year.

| CAWS had a SOOIE prep tournament in Little Rock last weekend. It was won by Cody Johnson, a 2 time winner of SOOIE. He will be here, and the event takes place in 16 days! | |

| 12 days until zero hour. I now have all the army lists in, sorted, and ready for the comp scoring. I did get good news from the staff, and we will be able to give the great service to our players that they are acustomed to. We will be fully staffed, as we have been for the last 2 years.
With over 60 players this year, it has been a real challenge, but I am happy to say that nobody has shrunk away from the work. I have at least 3 helpers for Friday afternoon, and if you are willing to help, we could use 1 or 2 more helpers.
I timed it out, and it takes about 3 - 4 minutes to set up a Realm of Battle modular board. After placing them on the mat surface, they do not slip, provided they have minimal clippage.
This is great news for Patriot Games, as we will probably have 15 of these boards for that event.
Visitors are welcome, and the first games get underway on Saturday morning at 9:30. Lunch specials are ongoing at the venue, as will Beer specials be!

| This is the last weekend to get in some games before Sooiepalooza. I expect the tables at TSE to be running all day. Last weekend we had to get out the 4th table for Fantasy gaming. It will probably be the same this week.
Jason Smith will be up from Little Rock, again, and he is one of the CAWS players. He will be available for a couple games. There have also been 4 or 5 other players that have announced that they would be on site on Saturday for a game or 2.
I would like to get in a game around 5 PM, if possible.

| SNOWYPALOOZA is more like it. We had 50 players, in spite of the bad weather. For those that missed it, it was interesting, fun, and really snowy! | |

| I have the pictures that I took at the bottom of my post about sooie over on the blog - http://www.thehogsofwar.com/2010/02/sooiepalooza-2010-aftermath.html
There were some really sharp looking armies down there. I don't think I managed to get a shot of the army that won best painting though - it was a wood elf army if I remember correctly.
One of my favorite armies was the Mad Max themed Orc and Goblin army. It had a marvelous theme and had a portable dvd player inside a hill on the display board showing the movie.

| Best Painting was Matt LeClair's orange demons. I have a magazine with that O&G list in it if you want pics. | |
