IG Command Kill Points

Hey Gang
As I understand it an IG HQ Command unit in a Chimera would be considered 2 kill points. According to the rule book a character is either an independant character or an upgrade character. In my reading the HQ Senior commander is an upgrade character. Its not a vet sargent but clearly a member of a unit with enhanced characteristics or improved access to wargear. Thus 1 kill point for the chimera and 1 for the command HQ unit.

However, the GW FAQ states the following but I believe it to be completely wrong, even the wording of thier response seems off (a command SQUAD is an independent character?!?) What's your take? Can you help me makes sense of this?

his four Guardsmen worth 1 point or 2?
A. A Command Squad is an independent
character and his retinue, as defined on page 48
of the rulebook. The rulebook clearly states on
page 91 that a character and his retinue are worth
1 kill point each. Therefore the enemy gains 1 kill
point for killing the Junior Officer, and 1 kill
point for killing the accompanying Guardsmen.

The FAQ predates the current codex. In the previous IG codex the company commander was listed as an independent character. He is not listed as such in the current codex, so I believe the ruling in the FAQ no longer applies. The same goes for the mention of dedicated transports later in the same FAQ.

I think Fulm has it. I pulled up the FAQ and it says the command squad falls under 'IC and retinue' rules. That was put out in march.

Command squads are units now IIRC. That means the squad gives up 1 and the transport gives 1.

Cap'n and Fulm have it right on all counts.
