| Hey guys and gals! I know I'm new here, but I'm working with the local gaming store of Fayetteville, AR - Castlehouse Games - to get supplies together for Free RPG Day which is on Saturday, June 19, 2010 this year. We are trying to get the word out to as many as possible in the area, so who would be interested in the short drive up for some free RPG stuff in June?
Please post here or pm me if you 'd be interested in going to Free RPG Day 2010. I mean, who doesn't like free stuff, right?!

More details will follow.

More details will follow. Thanks so much Chris, and for everyone else, see the link below for a map to Castlehouse Games! Also, if anyone would be willing to run a demo of Warhammer, I'm sure we'd love to have a couple tables set up for that too. I'll talk to Chris about it, but pm me if you're interested in showing some newbies the Warhammer ropes. LINK TO MAP

| Tentatively I can be put down to run a game of Dark Heresy.
It's what I usually run on Saturday anyway but if I need to I can run a one-off with pre-gen characters for new folks.
I would need to know about how many would be interested. I already have a group of seven players at the moment (if they are all there at once; a rare event) but if I have enough I can run maybe three or so more. I would need to know who exactly would be interested in playing; I had an unfortunate event that happened this summer with a player who was unknown to me that I prefer not to repeat.
Maybe Death Watch will be out by then and I can run a Death Watch Kill Team in a series of unfortunate events instead......

| Or maybe have just a couple pre genned characters for your regular game as "red shirt" type characters or as I call them "guest stars." ??
I'll put it up on the boards to see if it collects any interest. Thanks muchly!!

This isn't D&D, surviving a hour in 40k world is a feat!

| I am also thankful for the split, but I do want to ask if anyone would be willing to show up with some 40K armies (maybe just a small skirmish army) to demonstrate some of the fun that is 40K for Free RPG day? I know its "RPG" day, but I consider 40K just as viable an RPG as any with all the fluff, stories, and history included. | |

| I am not saying "NO!" to this idea but 40K is NOT a roleplaying game. Not in any sense of the word, and there won't be anything free to give out for it as well.
I've already indicated that I could run Dark Heresy for that day and it IS an RPG set in the 40K universe; with all the same history, fluff, etc.
Just my two Thrones. (Dark Heresy currency)

| Ah, I did not know Dark Herasy was the same history, world etc. I misunderstood...I thought Dark Herasy was more Warhammer Fantasy world. Shows what I know about the Warhammer world. Thanks Chris! I'll just keep it at Dark Herasy then. | |

| No worries. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is the RPG setting for the Warhammer Fantasy tabletop game. Again; same history, fluff, etc. as the tabletop minis game.
But please don't get me started on a harangue about WH FRP. I love 1st and 2nd Edition. Third Ed WH FRP is so...disappointing.

| Subject: Fantasy Flights Has Announced For Free RPG Day! 7th April 2010, 3:05 am | |
| Just thought I'd let everyone know that Fantasy Flight Games has announced their inclusion for Free RPG Day. Drumroll....just kidding.
It's Warhammer 40K Roleplay: Deathwatch.
From their site (though I'm sure it probably doesn't need much explanation here):
(From the Deathwatch Core Rulebook)
"Welcome to the front lines, Battle-Brother!
Deathwatch is a roleplaying game in which you take on the role of a member of the Adeptus Astartes - the devout, bio-engineered super-soldiers also known as Space Marines. After many years of exemplary service within your own chapter, you have been singled out and selected to join one of the most unique and specialized collectives of Space Marines - the Deathwatch.
Only the most exceptional candidates from the fighting forces of the Adeptus Astartes are invited to join the mysterious Deathwatch; to take on a new oath to safeguard the Imperium from the darkest of threats. You will now be called into service to hunt down and destroy hostile xenos forces, to seek out and crush the root of heresy and sedition, and to continually fight against the foul daemon menace that crawls forth hungrily from beyond the Warp. You are at the fore of Mankind's war for survival against an extremely hostile universe.
For centuries, the Deathwatch have maintained their silent vigil over the ancient ruins of the Reach, but now you find yourselves on the front lines of a grand Imperial Crusade that has been launched to reclaim this vast region of space from darkness and heresy.
The fate of billions rests in your hands!"
So there you have it...now, just to find someone willing to run the Deathwatch adventure (it only says adventure which makes me wonder whether or not there will be any quickstart rules...will have to check on that.

| I replied already on another board, but Deathwatch is a Gen Con release, so the Free RPG Day adventure must either include quickstart rules or else reference Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader for the core rules. | |

That's what I thought too, but all the other offerings specifically said quickstart...I'm betting it'll be close to Dark Heresy's rules and core mechanics anyway...but we'll see.

| Deathwatch does use the same system as Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader rules (which I have) so the only reference that would be needed are the rules involving the Space Marines themselves. There will be new Talents to cover the physical makeup of the SM's. | |

Awesome sauce! So, that means we have, so far, a Deathwatch GM, a Call of Cthulhu (Chaosium version) GM, and a D & D 4e GM. That's 3 games, and possibly another depending... I'm looking forward to it!! Deathwatch just sounds awesome and brutal!
