GW Modular Gaming Tables Empty
PostSubject: GW Modular Gaming Tables   GW Modular Gaming Tables Icon_minitime2nd November 2009, 6:22 pm

This morning I finished another GW Modular Gaming table. It was the 7th table that I've done, and I may not be getting any better at them, but I am getting quite a bit quicker.

Saturday morning I primered the board black, took about 20 minutes

On Saturday afternoon, around 3:30, I painted the stone parts of the board, took about 1 hour.

This morning I began to apply the red clay powder and the green flock. My personal boards are all done this way, and that way I can interchange pieces without breaking continuity. This took about 2 hours.

At 11:15 I went to Dollar General to buy a spray bottle to seal the board. At 11:45 I was eating lunch, waiting for the boar to dry. In 69 degree temps, and the wind blowing, the pieces were dry enough to touch, and I set them in our table. The table will be ready for gaming on Tuesday, as it needs an overnight period to cure.

We now have 24 tiles at TSE for gaming play. When the flat tiles are released, Nov 28, we will surely purchase a few of them to add to our stash.

It's really great to be able to set up a 40K table with a huge mountain in the center, or establish the Valley of Death, or play on the plains of visibility. With multiple boards, all this is quite possible. What is really great is to set up 8 foot board with 2 mountains, pop a GW hill on one or both of them, place the Temple of Skulls in between them, along with a wood or 2, and I know this sounds like dreaming, but we have this set up, and it really looks awesome. It plays even better than it looks.

On Nov 14, at the TSE tourney, all 5 tables will be the GW tables. I am hoping that Sooiepalooza 2012 has all of the tables as GW modular tables.

I realize that they are a bit pricey for most, but those that get them have not voiced any complaints to me, and I have no complaints. At first I had some trouble with models standing up, but after a few games, this problem was rather easily remedied. If you are interested in these fabulous terrain pieces, come over to TSE and see them. Bring an army and play on them! That's even better!
