Mega Battle

I have been thinking ever since Jester's last 40k apocalypse battle that the fantasy players should do something like that. Given that there are plans to have another apocalypse battle this summer in the area, I think it is time someone also attempt to bring the fantasy players to a similar table. So, that is exactly what I am going to try and do. Back in the day, Dennis C. used to hold Mega-battles a couple times a year. He would bring out this empire and chaos armies, put a few tables together, and allow people to pick sides and play a massive warhammer game. Unfortunately I don't have 10,000 points of one army(let alone two armies), so I would pose a question to the local warhammer fantasy players. Is there an interest in having a apocalypse-style warhammer fantasy Mega-battle? If there is enough interest I will secure a date, place, some tables, set point limits for each person, and assign players to a team/side. As a disclaimer: the Mega-battle would almost certainly be on a Saturday, start fairly early, and last near 12 hours(this includes a lunch break.) Everyone should consider this before making a decision on whether you are interested.

Obviously, it all depends on the details - sounds fun in theory though!

Yeah, I am hesitating to post a huge amount of detail in case there is no interest. I will post a few more things on it later tonight or tomorrow.

Posted slightly as well. Depends on time, and if I actually play a game before then.

The time...I don't know yet. I need to look at when all the tournaments are going on. Don't want a conflict of schedules if I can help it. If anyone is worried about their knowledge of the rules, don't be. You only need the bare minimum knowledge of rules to get in on this...your teammates will be there to help you. The main reason for the Mega-Battle would just be to get everyone together at the same time and roll dice. As for a few details on the possible event.

The Mega-Battle would involve two teams. Everyone would field their army side-by-side with their teammate’s armies(just like the Apocalypse Battle was.) An example would be:

Team 1 is players A, B, C, and D. Team 2 is players E, F, G, and H.



Each team would be assigned a point limit for each army to balance the overall game. An example would be:

Team 1 – Player A can bring up to 3000 points.
Player B can bring up to 2500 points.
Players C &D can bring up to 2000 points each.

Team 2 – Player E can bring up to 3000 points.
Player F can bring up to 2500 points.
Players G & H can bring up to 2000 points each.



Each team would be assigned a team captain. Team captains would have a few extra special rules for this size and type of game. Nothing unbelievable though.

Casting and Dispel dice would be generated a little bit differently, but the way spell choice, casting and dispelling is done would remain the same.

With the exception of a couple other small details, everything else will follow the normal rules for warhammer fantasy (terrain, movement, shooting, h-t-h combat, etc.), just on a much larger scale.

If there ends up being enough interest to move ahead, then I will post everything in greater detail.

Count me in. I want to fill the up to 2000 point slot of the evil side. Beastmen. I dont want to be team captain, as I have minimal knowledge of the rules.

I've got Lizards if I get cast on the 'good' team and WoC for the 'evil' team if you need them.

Make sure you give my side the best player. I am going to be bringing my team down alot. Partially on accident, but mainly on purpose.

Excellent, right now I would probably cast you on the evil side capn. along side bdix and I assume bane. Monkeyman and I could take the good-guys part. This is of course all theoretical right now. We really need at least one to three more people in order to make it work.

Also I might be able to talk my dad into playing his dark elves(he doesnt know the rules very well, so if he does play please help him and take it easy on him

OK, if we find the another person or two to join in and complete the roster, I will put you in player B's position.

I might(and it is very unlikely, like 5% chance) be able to talk my dad into playing(but he plays Dark Elves, but i could make him play my lizards) and if we cant find any other people i can just play a larger list, I have a lot of stuff i didnt have enough room for in the 3000 pt tournament game at tse

That would be great. With ares' on board we could have 6 players.

I will do any of those. I just need to have enough time to ask for the day off. I will check with a coworker to see what Saturday among those he has off so I will know which ones would be best.

I'd give it a try. I don't think I have 2000 pts of any army. but I think I have about 1500-ish elves or dwarves. (could probaly do 2000 with elves if I use both griffins )
