| In the previous version of Fantasy, Great Weapons used by mounted units allocated only +1 S to the bearer. I read and reread the rules on this, and now even Army Builder is showing +2 S for Great Weapon on a mounted unit. | |

Oh yeah, I forgot about poor old Bretonnia. Wasn't there a Empire knight unit that could take great weapons?

| Empires knights can take them as well...
When I was building them (past tense) I was confused if I could do a rank of lances and a rank of great swords.
My confusion, or perhaps lack of clarity of rules, had others crying cheese. I laughed because there is a lot sharper cheese out there to be found.... I do like a good wheel of Colby jack. I'm drawn to cheese in all forms it seems.
But I digress, in play test my 2hander knights (3 units of 10) were quite fun and very effective.

| Sounds like you'd still get the +2 str for it then. | |

| Mounted gw's are +2 strength now. (as it should have always been) I don't think you can mix weapons in a unit other than obvious upgrades like unit champs or characters. I believe its the basic rule book. Otherwise you'd see every one running 30 halberds with 5 spears in the unit for the extra attacks. | |

| Right you are. But if you get a chance read the empire army book under the knights. It seems you can arm them in a mix. I now know you can't of course, but I was just confused when I started..... I'm a 40k gamer so the idea of mixed squads never caught me as odd until I had others yelling at me.

| Yes, +2 strength with mounted Great Weapons. They took out the distinction of mounted or foot with the new edition. | |

I don't think there was 'yelling.' Loud talking at most.
