I love that Warhammer Quest is listed in this section. Has anyone here other than Monkey, Jester, and myself really played this thing? It is a beast. You are pretty much doomed from the second you step foot in the dungeon.

We had a go at it quite a while back and it just seemed to me that it was a very uphill battle against the monsters. Even as we (somehow) leveled up a few times, the monsters scaled with us and just whupped us from sun up to sun down.

Don't get me wrong, it was an absolute blast, but I think it suffers from what many games of this type suffer from - it is EXTREMELY hard to balance. If you get it to soft your players trounce the monsters with no real threat, and if you make it too hard (which I would argue that Warhammer Quest is definitely closer to this than being too soft) the players don't have a hope.

What is everyone else's experience with this game?

I feel the same way. Out of the 5 times I played it, I survived long enough to do anything only once.

The best thing is falling in a pit. Hope someone is playing the Dwarf (the dwarf starts with a rope, which you can use to get someone out of a pit) and lord help you if the Dwarf falls in a pit - I don't remember how that one works out.

I hated when the person with the torch died, or when the monsters were smart enough to target him.

I bought this back when it came out. I have played it countless times. Good times.
I have the Warrior Priest as well for this.

If you are a fan of this game you should check out Descent. Lots of fun in a box with that one too.

I have a basic set of this that was missing only a few models. I dearly wish I could get off my butt and get some 3D terrain using the Hirst Arts mold that I have cast for it. I think it would be a blast with 3D dungeon terrain.

I have played it around five times and each time it is a blast. Sometimes trying to get back to civilization after the dungeon is defeated is an adventure in itself.

If you liked an Old School with low details RPG this game is set up for it.
