Friday night was setting up, and with the help of NAte and Jamie, all went smoothly.
We were a bit late starting on Saturday morning. It seems tha Jack and Ellie were running a bit late, and the guys from Little Rock went to the old shop, and not to the Cosmo. At 30 minutes after the scheduled start time, we got rolling and the shooting, fighting, and pillaging began in earnest.
There were quite a few ties in round 1, more than normal.
Lunch was ready as soon as the players finished their games, and in the restauraunt of the Cosmo, everyone went to dine and squack!
Game 2 started only 15 minutes late, as we made up time by having everyone back in quite a prompt fashion. Voting for best paint occured right before game 2.
Games 2 and 3 were very competitive, and when the smoke cleared, the overall champion was 1 point ahead of the runner up.
Looking back, it was probably the smoothest tournament I've run in many years. There were very few complaints, and lots of kudos.
We handed out over $400 in prizes to over 15 folks at the event. Everyone that came got a completely painted piece of the new Blastscape terrain that GW made for PlanetStrike. They also got to use it in every game they played, as a set up in their own deployment zone.
The scenarios were almost right out of the 40K book, with a few little twists and turns, but on the whole, most folks understood them quite well.
From the admin end, I thouroughly enjoyed the players, and the hotel treated us fantastic, as always. This was the 13th event we have held at that venue, and we have a reat relationship with them.
