| Alrighty, heres how this will go down.
All characters will start with max fate points.
You may roll twice for your career in your choice of fields.
- or -
Give up a fate point to choose your class outright.
I will allow one of each of dwarf, halfling and elf. This is empire centered. If you choose demi race be ready for hassle.
I will allow only one player of any class.
I recommend one person in wizards apprentice. I recommend one person play an initiate moving toward priest/cleric
Claim race or class here.
You must roll your stats in front of me. Standard rolls across the board, then 3 rerolls however you want taking the highest value.

| Halfling!
Gonna go ahead and spend the fate point to pick up Barber Surgeon as my class. Figure that is a safer bet than rolling and getting rat catcher or dung collector.

| dwarf...what classes can I be? I have never looked at the actual rulebook. If there is a thunderer of some sort, I lay claim to it. | |

Id recommend starting at hunter and then moving into targeteer to recreate thunderer.

Id recommend starting at hunter and then moving into targeteer to recreate thunderer. Dwarfs can also become rune priests, slayers, tunnel fighters and the like. Fyi. They are hardy so make better fifhters than rangers. Ranged can work with them though.

| I would like to take this time to nominate Matt to play an Estalian Diestro. He may refuse this nomination, but I would really like to see it.
I plan on rolling for mine, but I will be a human unless everyone else refuses to be an elf.

| @Sterling - all three of those classes are available. Its really not much different from first edition. Just cleaner and more organized.
@bdix - Ultimately, you would want to pick out your second class and go from there, looking at what gives you direct entry into your second career. The advanced Careers are key.
If you are wanting to play dwarf beater, the following would be advanced careers to do so : Veteran, Sergeant, Giant Slayer (though I would prefer no slayers due to limiting others roleplay and actions), Champion
My recommendation would be starting as a Runebearer (dwarf only), Shieldbearer (dwarf only), or Soldier and then move to Veteran and then move toward Champion as you gain experience.
Runebearers are agile dwarf fighters and tunnel messengers. Shieldbreakers are heavily armored dwarfhold fighters. Soldiers are good at both ranged and hth.
@Dannato - Engineer is available as an advanced career, meaning you would complete a lesser class first and then move into Engineer. The engineer is an academic class and the three choices that lead directly to him are: Miner, Student, and Tradesman. Miner is a little tougher in hth, with survival skills. Student has a lot of roleplay and useful skills but not much in the way of combat skills. Tradesman is a lesser middle ground to both.

| The Thousand Thrones campaign book had a better profession generation system. It was random, but at least you got to pick a table that resembled what you were wanting to do. | |

| The best laid plans.... I wont make it friday after all. Generation will have to wait a week. Sorry guys!
@wizard - it does have a table breaking it into ranger, academic, rogue, commoner and warrior. Similar to how it was in first edition. That is what i am letting them choose and roll on if they dont just want to pick out right.

| After some thought, I think I'm going to go with a Wizard Apprentice. The rest of you guys better make some nasty characters, because I have no intent on entering combat unless necessary. In such a big group, it would really be a disgrace to the group if I had to. | |

| @ SweetE:
Just so you know; a wizard in Warhammer does not have to be a wimp. During a game I was GM'ing an apprentice with a WS 25 ST 25 attack and Emperor's fury'd 5 different Khorne berserkers in one fight with his staff. Yes he was lucky, but a wimp he was not! And this was a big group; 8 players. But the more players, the more bad guys.
In the same fight Phantomphoenix shot two different party members with a bow. The first shot pinned a character to his horse and the second did a lot of damage as well. The second character did ask to be shot since he was in combat with a Khorne berserker and asked Phantom to help.
CHG House rule is if you miss the shot by the number the friendly character added to the difficulty of the shot then you shot your buddy.

| @gamewizard
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I've played numerous wfrp campaigns, so I actually know that wizards can be stout. They can do massive amounts of damage, especially later on. They just tend to be fragile in the beginning. Any strong group needs one, they just have to baby them a bit at the start. That isn't my nature, as I usually play characters that are strong from the get go. So I was really just warning everyone that I would be playing my usual combat monster.

Again no idea what im doing so... yeah This is a weekly roleplaying game in centerton from 6pm to 11 or midnight over the course of the summer. It means attendance mostly each week. While you are welcome to attend is that something you can commit to? A ride to and from centerton each week?

| If that is the case, then the elf is yours. There are numerous routes to make a shadow warrior type character. I don't have the rulebook with me today, but I will let you know this evening what can be played.
My other recommendation would be to either pick up a copy of the book on amazon or buy a pdf copy as Haren stated so you can read it and familiarize yourself with the rules and the way things are played.... particularly if you have never played in a roleplaying game before.
