It is like what Mordheim is to Fantasy for 40k.

If you don't know what Mordheim is then that doesn't help much.

I haven't played Necromunda but I have played quite a bit of Mordheim so I will describe it.

In Mordheim you have a warband - usually between 5 and 15 guys. They move and work independently. Think of it as a micro managed Kill Team. Your guys all have their own unique stats, special rules, and wargear. The big selling point is that your guys will gain XP and acutally 'level up' between games.

Hope that helps.

I bought two gangs and an Adeptus Arbites group for use with my Dark Heresy games.

They could also be used for other sci-fi RPG's.

Or is it Sy-Fy RPG's thse days?

Dang tv.........

All the GW skirmish games are designed to be played as either one shot games or as part of an ongoing league/campaign. The game can be fun either way, but a lot of the 'depth' is in the experience system that doesn't come into play unless you are playing multiple matches.

I should post a disclaimer that I've grown to dislike GW's skirmish rules as I find them too random. In the army games the buckets of dice you toss around tend to even out the odds, but in the skirmish game you're getting only one or two dice per model and you only have around a dozen models. Add in the campaign elements and it's easy to find yourself falling way behind after just a couple unlucky rolls. In theory there are some mechanisms to try to balance things a bit when this happen, but in practice they don't really work.

I am in the minority on this though, and most people I know who've played Mordheim or Necromunda or Blood Bowl really like them.
