I agree with the four weeks right now. It will be a good way to test the waters and make sure people will really stay playing. Plus if we get more people you can always play games that aren't scheduled with others. Just because there is a 4 game minimum, it doesn't mean you can't play a few more games then that.

This opening season should be 4 weeks. If there is enough response, then we should absolutely do the 8 week buy in (at $3-$5) league with the trophy at the end.

Too many potential ties with only 4 weeks. That is why I suggested the 5th week of the regular season.

So either shorten it to 3 weeks or lengthen it to 5. Trust me when I say you want an odd number of weeks/games.

Definitely want to carry over stats from season to season.

So what are we gonna call this thing? I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy the resin monster trophy and I need to know what to get engraved on it.

@Bane - I have the Human and Orc starter teams out of the box. you are more than welcome to use one of them if you like.

What's your thought on non-BB models? I have a metric Shizer-ton of DE Wyches that would like to be a DElf BB team...

I'm ok with it as long as you can tell the different types apart. Looks like there are 5 different types of players for the Dark Elves. Should be fine if you mix in some other models besides Witch Elves - they can have 2 of them on a team and 16 linemen, 2 runners, 2 assassins, and 4 blitzers.

I'd be fine with it. The only proxy i might have issue with would be using 40k models as a team.

Apart from their splinter pistols (which would be removed) Wyches aren't overly futuristic, but I'm fine with whatever you decide.

Marines, CSM, Tau and crons probably are the only ones that wouldn't fit right. IG, Eldar, DEldar, and even nids would be ok (and neat if you actually converted them) proxies for humans, elfs/helfs, delfs, and lizards?.

I will play. I will be making my team out of scrap pieces from Will's Box-o-crap.

Also, are you doing the purchasing of Fan Factor or 5 Free or some other system?

Fan factor is the normal purchase system.

Second Draft is up. Changes include lowering the league points a little, and fixing my mistake on gold calculation. I also took out the comments.

I am going to post up examples of the team and score threads now since we're in our own sub forum.

@Andy: Re-rolls are what cost double after building the team.

Dennis made the suggestion of making this a one-day event. Meet up somewhere and play all day. Any interest in doing this? Not gonna take that long to play 6 games.

While I respect Dennis' suggestion, that would be a tourney not a league. I would like to run 1 day 5 round tourney next year like a week or two after the super bowl, but that is still a ways out.

I am trying my hardest to make this league an easy and simple thing so we can keep interest in it for the full length. By making it 4 weeks I think it will be, and by limiting league games to 1 per week for points as well as a point system that should limit the number of true ties, it should be. It's not like you have to play the 2-3 exhibition games. In fact in the later weeks it might help you, as your team value will be less than your opponents so you get more in inducements.

I still think an even number of games is a bad idea. It will be very easy for everyone to go 2-2. Have fun figuring out the tie breakers.

if it was just win/lose yea it'd be difficult. It would be the same if we weren't running bonus points. Since we're running bonus points the likely hood of 80 point ties is not likely. Also tie breaks wouldnt be that difficult. The first tie break would be Strength of Schedule (total league points of all your opponents added together,) and the second would be total goals scored. Since both these data points are know and required for reporting, it will not be difficult to calculate them. Heck when I do the standings I could even throw those numbers into the standings grid:


If something happens and a third tie break is necessary, then I will figure something else out, but honestly it shouldnt get there.

Looking like the dates will be Nov. 11 to Dec. 3 with the play-offs and bowl on Dec. 4th at TSE.

Currently we have 6 players with 4 maybe's. I'll play if we end up with an odd number of players.
