Sorry I didn't make it last night, wasn't feeling up to it. I may be able to get a friend from work to show up with me next week. However, he is not interested in farming either. Agricola may be a good game, just not one I am interested in.
If you guys are going to play that again probably just bring my copy of Space Hulk. If there are any extra peeps could also give Chaos in the Old World a try since the store has a copy.
The planned game coming up next Wednesday is Marvel Heroes, assuming you're still wanting to run it Smile

If you'd rather do Chaos in the Old World, then that would work too. I didn't know there was a copy in the store library.

We will be returning to Agricola at some point, because it is just that good, but we've played it two weeks in a row, so it's time for something else to be the featured game.

I'll bring Marvel Heroes and see what happens. Either Marvel or Chaos in the Old World would be fine. Both are 4 player games, but might get a game going faster for Marvel since some of us have already played it. Less of a learning curve and may be able to play 2 games.

Took a look at Chaos in the Old World tonight, and it was a bit involved. We ended up playing Ad Astra instead, because it had a lot fewer rules. They will both probably be future featured games. Ad Astra is sort of an ultra-light Twilight Imperium without a combat element.

There's been some interest in Marvel Heroes, enough that I'll probably bring along my copy just in case there's more than four people interested in playing it. There will still be other games as well, in case more than four people show up and not everyone is interested in Marvel.

Just a reminder that tonight is board game night. Marvel Heroes is the featured game, but there will be others on hand as well.

Board game night again tonight. Not sure what we're playing tonight, but we may have two games going. I need to start no later than 6:30 tonight, so we'll probably start a second game for anyone who arrives later than that. I'd wait, but I need to wrap up around 10 tonight, and definitely can't stay to midnight like last week.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Bringing some 40k to show Abott the ropes a little. Hope to get a couple of 750pt games in. And technically 40k is a board game too. It is played on a 4'x6' BOARD. Laughing

Tonight's game is Ad Astra, a relatively simple game about space exploration, colonization and exploitation. As always, other games will be available, although the last few sessions we haven't had more players than the main game could handle.

There is no 'official' game for board game night this week, instead I'll be bringing my bag o' games which should include the following:

Agricola, Memoir '44, King of Siam, Conquest of Paradise, Bang!, Coloretto, Felix: The Cat in the Sack, and probably Commands & Colors Ancients

Of course, there's also the store's game library to choose from, and everyone is welcome to bring their own. We'll simply play whatever everyone wants to play (and I'll just pick one if no one can make up their mind Wink )

Yaaay! I can log onto the forums again!

I'll bring a few old faves of mine as well. I'll try to make sure I have some multiplayer level games. I need to get Battlecry down from the attic and bring it in. Command and Colors ancients looks interesting; I'd like to try it some day.

Barring all that, maybe I can get some folks interested in Federation Commander. You play it on a board, you get to command a starship, it's a board game with starships! How much cooler can you get?

I also have Warhammer Quest available. It's played on a board, so it's technically a board game until I finally get all the minis I want painted and a 3d dungeon built.

Or I could just kill some more people in the Dungeon of Death!

Warhammer Quest and Federation Commander are both board games, albeit a bit more aimed towards the grognard than our standard board game night fare ;-)

I look forward to having you there tonight!

Sounds like a lot of Bangin' went on with people dropping everywhere. I'll get that game in so more folks can get in on the Bangin' fun!

Sorry I was unable to join in, I got a little more busy than expected. I hope to get in a game of Command and Colors soon, it looked totally cool.

Yep, Bang! was a big success, although it's a good thing that Bang! cards are printed to playing card quality standards because some of the players there were a bit heavy handed.

I can tell I'm going to have to either do some basic card handling education or else stay away from card driven games, since most game cards aren't so robust. The latter would be a real shame given how many good card driven games are out there right now, including Dominion and the Commands & Colors games.

I'll get some of the smaller sleeves in.

Another problem we had was the robust language that was being used. That needs to calm down as well. There were only a couple of people who went a little overboard but the two were rather loud with the "f-word" flinging. They just need reminding that I am trying to run a family oriented business.

One of them never spends a dime in my shop but the other one is a pretty good customer that I will talk to tonight.

I'll also try to keep an ear out for that in the future. I'm usually attentive to that kind of thing, but the double entendres already inherent in a game of Bang! tend to lessen my sensitivity to that kind of language.

I understand fully and I'm no prude. A few words hurled here and there at various moments are one thing, but it was way too loud and non-stop with those two. I felt I was out of control of the shop but with the way I felt and the amount of fun that was seeming to be had I didn't want to interfere. But I don't want some certain people think it's ok to treat the place like they were in it when it was still a bar.

My flu returned with a force today so I was unable to stay late tonight but I got a new run of amoxicillian and I am feeling better already.

I ordered a Super Deluxe hot knife set so if you ever have the need for that let me know, Fulminata. Maybe you and I can collaborate on a Lord of the Rings foam board. I also got a some DVD's that show how to use it and some compounds to mix to make the foam boards very strong. I will eventually get the big Bow from the Hot Knife people so I can cut my own big sheets out for the gaming tables.

No disrespect intended against the GW tables, I just prefer to try and model my own.

These hot knives will have to be heavily regulated; some are very delicate and while I might get bummed if I break one, that is my problem. I don't plan on loaning out the more delicate knives unless I am standing right next to the person.

The Hot Knives could work into an agreement with the Hot Knife company if we can get enough interest going with some in-store terrain.

I also ordered the Warhammer General's Compendium from KNG for around $30ish. Verminlord showed me that awesome book on Wednesday night and I vowed I would get a copy of it. It has lots of terrain applications that the hot knife will be killer for.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I too felt rather uncomfortable at the volume level and frequency of cursing being thrown out by one or two people this last Wednesday. I totally didn't feel it was my place to say anything; so I didn't, but since its brought up here I just wanted to chime in my support of your opinions and say that I appreciate the fact that it was noticed by and is being dealt with by the store owner. Makes me feel good about the quality of playing atmosphere that will be maintained in the store. Thanks Chris, you do a great job man.

Thanks for the thoughts. A word or two will be said by me about language use before the fun begins this Wednesday night. I think I will keep it low key for now. Hopefully things will be worked out so we can all enjoy ourselves.

Board Game Night again tonight! Another grab bag night tonight, probably with the same games from last week, with maybe a couple extra added.

I appreciate the efforts towards keeping the event family friendly. I'm honestly not sure why I didn't notice it going on last week, as I'm usually fairly sensitive to that stuff. I think maybe I had just already tuned out the offenders in question Razz

Tonight's game is going to be Steam, assuming I get the rules finished. This is a new game with the theme of building rail lines. Well, it's actually a re-implementation of an older game called Age of Steam, but it was just released this year.

In honor of Veteran's Day, I will also make sure to have Memoir '44 available for anyone who wants to give it a play.

We ended up not playing anything last week, but we are still on for this Wednesday! I'm thinking Pandemic for this week's game. Steam will probably be on the schedule before too long, but we've had requests for Pandemic, and I finally got sleeves for the cards, so it's good to go!

Also, probably no board game night next week. I'd still be up for one, but I imagine most everyone else won't be. We can talk about it on Wednesday.

My apologies to anyone who went tonight to board game night. We had decided to do one, but things came up at the last minute, and I can't find a correct number to call the store and let them know.

We will be having one next week.

One of the regulars is bringing The Princes of Florence, so that should be tonight's game. If that falls through I'll have Steam with me.

The expansion is worth getting even if you don't want a harder game. The extra roles and events are interesting, and the petri dishes for storing the pieces are just cool Smile
