| Being an avid twitter follower of all things nerdy, I noticed some disturbing 40k Radio tweets this morning and found out on their site that one of their listeners made a fairly de-based comment about something that had nothing to do w/ 40k Radio and was just a personal attack on the host - Spencer - so they have announced the end of 40k Radio.
Just a heads up for those who tune in.
Check it out at http://www.40kradio.com/ |

| yea it's a sad day when a troll derails one of the best audio resources for the 40k hobby. Having been reading up on it all day myself the attack on Spencer was as bad as the threat that the writer had made at the end of the posted email. All i can say about the situation is that I hope that Chipply & Scott take the reigns for the time being, and that Spencer forwards that email to the FBI. Terroristic threatening is almost as bad as doing the crime itself. |

| The comments and implied threat that Spencer received are way out of line and totally uncalled for.
That said, I won't miss the show. I think that 40K Radio stopped being one of the "best audio resources" for 40K a while ago. I stopped listening months ago, so had to go googling for the background on what led up to all of this:
This apparently started with a racist comment made by Jar Jar a while ago that led to a sponsor pulling out and lots of drama on the boards. That was followed by Chipley and Scott getting the boot, which also led to a lot of drama on the boards with everyone having their own version of events as to what went down. With Chipley and Scott gone, Spencer brought back Jar Jar from a "lifetime" ban over the racial incident, which led to more internet drama which included the offensive email that triggered Spencer pulling the plug on the show. |

IDK where you saw that Chipley and Scott got the boot and that Spencer brought Jar Jar back because of that, but thats not true. *EDIT* Ok after reading more I found the post about the Spencer / Scott / Chipley drama and it seems creditable. Your google-fu is much stronger than mine.
It is true that Jar Jar did make a racisit comment, which he apologized for in the next episode and had been banned from returning (This was 6-10 months ago).
Three weeks ago Spencers wife had a miscarriage and he took some time off to be with her. Scott and Chipley got Spencer's OK to bring Jar Jar back for the episode because it was the first show about the blood angels (Which is JJ's army). That had been his first time on since the incident. Rewind to last weeks episode Jar Jar was on the episode again *EDIT* and Scott & Chipley were notably missing. That must have been what set the guy who sent Spencer the email off.
As Spencer had said in the post on the 40k radio blog, the reason jar jar was back was because he believes in giving people a second chance.
*edit for side note* I personaly believe that any medium that gives you a different point of view from your own is a valuable resource. If I wanted to listen to only people who believe what i do then I would never grow to form my own opinions that differ from what i believed before I had heard others beliefs. A great example of a very different angle from what i do is the guys from Beast of War. I find myself saying their silly most of the time but they have good points every once and a while. |

| This was one of the more informative sources I found of some of the events leading up to this: http://bloodofkittens.com/?p=3444
Personally, Spencer lost me when he decided to go with the live format. "Internet radio" is a giant step backward from my point of view. I listen to podcasts when it's convenient for me to do so, not when it's convenient for the host to record one. With a format centered around the live show, it became very easy to push the podcast further down my "to listen to" list until it fell right off. This was more a matter of style than content, but if there had been more to the content I could have dealt with the style.
I'm not one of the "it went to hell when Phil left" guys, but a combination of things that happened around that time did tend to eventually lessen the usefulness of the show to me. |

| I'll second World's End Radio, Dice Like Thunder, and Podhammer, although the latter two come with a "parental advisory". D6 Generation is a great general gaming podcast, but you'll usually find relatively little to do with GW games there. You will find coverage of the Fantasy Flight games using GW properties. |
