| How are things coming opening the store up? Do you have hours or anything we could post on the site for when people are down your way? I've got a thing for scibor mini's, so I'd certainly stop by at some point. | |

| Hey all, What gives? Leatherneck WarGaming in Clarksville, AR has been open for a week now and we have had no business at all? did we open at a bad time in a bad location? Ive got 3 4x6 gaming tables, 1 4x4 gaming table and 28 feet of painting stations as well as 4 2x6 card tables for the card gamers out there. I would love to have some people in here to play some games or to buy. I had to play a 1200pt 40k game against myself yesterday because no one wants to come play with me!!!
Come on in and see us, 200 East Main Street, Clarksville, AR 72830.

| You are ~1.5-2 hours from most of us, about halfway between the northwest Arkansas group and the Little Rock group. I'm not positive how much traffic you'll see from here, since we have a number of people who won't drive to Fort Smith to play. | |

| We have 1 fairly well stocked shop in northwest Arkansas, and another couple that are starting up... you may be thinking of Fort Smith or Conway. | |

| I'm the OP. Apparently there's been some transition in who is gaming in your group. Back in Feb/March there was initial excitement about us opening up and a previous partner had been in contact with someone in charge of the group and we were told that Hogs of War was interested in having us sponsor your tournaments. As referenced in the Alamo GT thread, apparently there was a sizable group that went to Bayou X in Houston. There's a group that will get together to drive over 10 hours to Houston for a weekend, but won't drive an hour and a half or two?
We've got multi-day tournaments scheduled each month for the rest of the year. Including Apoc tournaments. We've got a group from San Antonio wanting to come up veteran's day weekend and have a Texan vs. Arkansas showdown. I wouldn't want them to get up here and be disappointed. There is also another Apoc tournament being scheduled with a group from the Hot Springs area.
We may be small, but the geeks have to stick together. We have been in contact with a few of the Russellville gamers, and 3 came in the shop the other day and bought some stuff.

| Oh, there's always excitement over a new store, and for tournaments you'll see people show up (depending on format, etc). I can't speak to previous partner and someone in charge of the group - so far as I can tell there's been no real group organization, mostly subgroup cliques based on game system and geographic region, since a few of the HoW are in Little Rock now. I couldn't find your event calendar on your website or FB page, btw... I only found an event for $25 where I can help you build terrain. That being said, there are a plethora of local game stores, and I (personally) almost never see 40k played, which seems to be your big event driver if I'm understanding your FB posts correctly. That could be part of it. I'd drive to Clarksville for a Warmahordes event, but I wouldn't drive to Springdale (20 minutes away) for a 40k or Fantasy event, speaking from personal experience. Locally I know of 4-5 40k players, 6-8 Fantasy players, and 10ish Warmahordes players, with some overlap. Couple that with 3 NWA shops (Gear is missing from https://thehogsofwar.forumotion.com/t1365-local-shop-hours ), plus 4 shops counting yours within 2 hours that run events, and you end up with more weekends used than not. Also, the biggest issue is finding people willing to drive. Speaking from experience, if there's a Warmahordes event within a couple of hours I can get 2-4 NWA people to go. If I don't drive, no one ends up going. I know Matt Farrar/ Brian Preece have done the same with Fantasy, and Eric/ Will D with 40k. That's part of why you'll see people go 10 hours to an event but not 2 hours to another one - it's a huge event (88 people per their site), which generates a certain draw there, plus you're seeing friends you haven't seen in a while, and consuming copious amounts of alcohol, and usually you have 1-2 people driving it locally and drumming up interest. This isn't localized to NWA by the way - Gonzo in Fort Smith has the same issues with getting locals to attend tournaments, and the Little Rock stores have people who won't drive 30 minutes across town, much less 2 hours. Finally, I hope you have a strong local community that's showing up to play. Nothing is more discouraging than driving 2 hours to find 1 (or 0!) locals at their own tournament. That's why I quit going to a certain store - and no, Gonzo, that's not aimed at you. | |

| Hey dude, I don't know what you are talking about for not finding the events and such. And I sure don't know what you mean about s $25 build terrain thing (since I have tons of terrain). I think you may have gone to the wrong page. our website (under construction) is www.leatherneckwargaming.com FB group page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/leatherneckwargaming/ our FB main page is https://www.facebook.com/LWGinc and our blog is www.leatherneckwargaming.blogspot.com
all of our current events are based on Warhammer and 40k, we are expanding into the others like warmachines/hordes, drop zone commander, Yu-gi-oh, magic, D&D, heroclix, and warpath to just name a few. we have area to host card games and such as well.
If you have ideas for us, please let us know, we are new and always looking for ideas to expand into.

| Our updated website is http://www.leatherneckwargaming.com (you went to the blogspot site that I had in my profile-now updated). Click "events" and scroll through the events. Once the new TMG set comes out and the new D&D comes out, we will be having game days for those. We will also have Pathfinder, as well as HeroClix for the younger age range. We may also do WarMachine too. We are available for hosting any tournaments, for any RPG or Tabletop game. | |

Eh, read terrain when it said table. Regardless, found your page now, looked at events, mostly all 40k. Eric/ Will/ Andy - here's some local-ish events! Looks to be 2nd weekend of every month, first weekend of next month. In any case, not trying to just be confrontational or anything, but also don't want you to think that everyone from Fayetteville is going to be driving over every weekend to game. I do wish you the best, and I'm sure I'd show up for Warmahordes events.

| Come on guys we always welcome new game stores.
I drove there from fort smith, did not take that long, and had a great time. Kris is a great guy and the warhammer and warmachine product is all discounted. In the case of warmachine that is a substantial discount on par with the best online retailer (its like 27.5%!). They carry other games and I am excited to start Dropzone commander with the group there. It is an easier drive than say Little Rock or Texas and it really is a nice building.
How many of us have driven HOURS for tournaments? Now there is a place that wants to run events within and hour? That's a problem but Texas is not?
You guys need to check this place out, it is worth it. Sure a regular weekly trip is probably unreasonable but would once a month be a big deal? We are talking MONTHLY warmachine and warhammer events.

We are talking MONTHLY warmachine and warhammer events. Thank you for your praise DreadArchon, and thank you for teaching me how to play warmachine. it was a blast. and for all of the Warmachine/hordes players ( and those who want to learn) on August 24th at 10 am til finished, We will be visited by the local press ganger Eric "Gonzo" Gunsolus. he will put on some demo games for war machines and hordes as well as help out with any questions ad information wanted about privateer press products. In conjunction with this, we will have open gaming and hobby area. So bring out your War Machine and Hordes armies and come on out! we are also going to be starting a slow growth Journeyman League for warmachine. we will finish working out the details tomorrow. what we are going to do with it is extend it from 6 weeks to 12 weeks and do the league every other week, and warmachine night of the other weeks. it will be worth the trip. and for those who are part of this league, we will give you a discount ranging between 27-28% off retail depending on the way tax falls. all of our prices include tax. Oh and BTW, DreadArchon, your order was placed on Saturday. should be here by Friday (if the birds are in alignment)
