I can either shave some points from the DP or run the trolls in 2 units of 8 each, and add some hounds to fill the gap.

I would say drop flight from the Daemon Prince. He is movement 8 to start, he shouldn't need the extra dice for the charge. That would free up points for a dog unit or two and keep you below 2,500.

I actually changed it around as follows, dropping to two units of 8 Trolls instead of 3 of 6. That gave me room for 2 units of Vanguard hounds.
