My Son (Peanut)

My wife went into the doctor's office Tuesday for abdominal cramps and has been in the hospital since, her blood pressure was spiking at 183. She's been put on medication, unfortunately the blood pressure medicine was a little strong for her, so they've spent all night dialing it in. She's going to be released today at Noon, on bed rest and returning on Mon and Thurs each week until they're ready to take the baby. The doctor says he'd like to wait for week 36 or even 37, but he just doesn't see that happening. Fortunately, Peanut is taking after my side of the family and already at a good weight/development that the doctors feel like taking him won't be too big a risk. He's already practicing breathing and he's over 6 lbs now (gained 2 in the past 2 weeks). So, it looks like I'll officially be a dad in the next week or (maybe) two.

The people at Mercy Medical in Rogers have been fantastic, so I have to give them a nod for taking care of my little lady. I'll update this thread when there's more to report.

Oooh. That is no fun. I had to take Tracie there a few weeks ago for something similar and they did a good job. She hasn't been on full be rest since then but she has taken off work. We go in on Monday and they are going to induce.

I hope everything is nice and calm for you from here on out.

Thanks guys, just got a call from the wife. I had to take her back to the hospital again yesterday, and a few minutes ago they decided they're going to start induction procedures tonight at 6pm. So, tomorrow I should officially be a dad.

Thanks guys, just got home from the hospital and it's not all good news. First, both mom and baby are fine. But, the doctor decided at the last possible minute to wait on the induction. He said that he wants to wait for test results in the morning and either begin the induction tomorrow during the day if there's a problem or tomorrow night if things are stable. I just got off the phone with my wife, she said that her blood pressure is back in the borderline again (they had to double the dose on her meds and give her a dose in her IV to get her to normal levels). So, I don't know at this point - I really just wish the doctor would shut up until he's ready to do this thing, because right now I feel like I can't trust him.

So a bit of news - game on: they started induction a little over an hour ago, so baby tomorrow. I guess that means I need to start thinking about his first army.

Posting for KHASS here, he just called and said that the baby is born...5lbs 14oz at 10:49am. Full head of hair. They are in Mercy room 523 in Rogers. So let's all extend our congrats and if you have a chance stop by and see the no little one. Keith said everyone was doing fine.

So, here's a pic of Peanut.


His full name: Ernest Keith Jones IV. I just got home from the hospital, his X Rays came out perfect. They said he'd be in good shape even if he wasn't a month premature. They've got him on oxygen to get the little bit of fluid in his lungs out but he seems to be doing just fine, and so is my wife. Both are sleeping and I'm soon off to join them.

Hard to believe that something so cute came from you.... Just kidding man, he looks great. Congrats and get some well earned sleep.

Just got a call from my wife, my son will be rooming in tonight. They're moving him to the room in about an hour, and we'll all be coming home together tomorrow.

Awesome. That is really good news. I know you guys are ready to get him home.

34 days since my wife's been home, 20 since my son's been born. Finally, we're all home together. He's up to 6 lbs 3 oz as of this morning, his appetite's great (up to 75ml per feeding) and wife's production is up. So all around, a good day.

Once things settle down I'll have a lot more hobby stuff to show, but for now... It's all about the Peanut.
