The price is what really concerned me. Say I wanted to throw down for a complete tournament ready list. What is the total cost there?

Bdix, a couple of weeks ago theback40k did a cost primer of competitive list. For an example he shows his medium panzer company (1625) which would run 135.00 to build out. If you try and build out an entire army for early, mid, & late war you'd be out a lot of money, but say for adepticon you know a the time period before signing up and could build and buy a list just for the points and period for 1-300 bucks.

Sandwrym also answered some questions someone had about getting in the game: http://theback40k.blogspot.com/2012/07/getting-started-in-flames-of-war.html

Lstorey, Welcome to the boards first off. While I don't own any models I do have the mini rulebook for the last edition and found reading it interesting. I am looking at putting together a late war US amoured division and maybe an early war paratrooper company. As soon as I can piece something together I might be interested in getting a learning game or two in.

Hello bdix,
you could put together a good 1500 point list for around $250.00 to $300.00. Depending on what kind of list your building a little more or less. Everyone is different with what they like to play. Your army Company list's are, Infantry, Mechanized, Armour, or a combination of the three.

But when your getting started you usually start out by gradually building your tournament list, starting at around 600 to 900 points. Play that list while your learning the game and slowley add to your list. FOW tournaments usually range from 1500 to 2000 points depending on the tournament director.

I have enough Americans and Germans to field 2000 to 6000 point lists. If your interested in learning the game you can use one of my armies while you learn.

let me know if your interested,

Loren

Hello Haren,
that was some great information on cost and army list's you have. Yes there are a lot of different companies to buy your FOW army figures from. I get alot of my things from The War Store, but now that "the Plastic Soldier company" is out there you can get lots of armour cheep, and it fits right in with the Battlefront stuff.

Anytime you want to get together and learn the game , just let me know. Like I said you don't need to go out and buy your complete army to get started, start with a platoon or two at a time and play 600 - 900 point games. I can help you understand how to put together a list and what choices you have for weapons, and support for your list's.

I have enough Americans & Germans to play larger point games or add to your list until you complete your army list. I have plenty of terrain for both North Africa, and Eastern Europe boards.

FOW is a great game once you get the hang of it. That's good that you have the rule book and can start to understand the mechanics of the game. As you play you will find it much easier to understand.

keep in touch,

Loren

I'm always interested in learning a new game as well. Maybe some Friday we could have a FoW seminar at the Warpig?
