I'm looking for something that could work as a cm wide coin. I need a lot of them, so the material would have to be cheap. My idea is to base my dwarfs like they are standing in a pile of them.

You could use a hole punch. I know hobby lobby has several different sizes of them. A leather punch might do the trick. Just punch em out of plasticard.

Aren't there sprinkles for cakes and other desserts that would be appropriate?

I like the hole punch idea. I just bought 6 sheets of thick plasticard also.

do they still make those lego coins? i remember having boatloads of them from the pirate sets. they'd probably be a decent size.
