Lexicanum Valid?

So my friend that plays says his brother(who is apparently a big gamer) doesn't own any of the actual codex's and just uses a website called Lexicanum, I searched it on Google and it came up with Lexicanum the unofficial Warhammer encyclopedia..... I was wondering if this is a valid site for gaming, because he is teaching my friend how to play based on that, and it says its a fan-made encyclopedia... So i'm not sure if this is a valid site to get all your rules and stats from. Any info would be helpful

No, i'd stick to the BRB and codices.

If someone tried to make me pull up Lexicanum to look at it a rule I would slap the internet out of his hands.

Well apparently the stats for Swooping hawks on there says they have 4 attacks each! Which is not true at all, i have the codex so i looked it up
