| I found a great alternative to Army Builder called BattleScribe. So far I've only used the Android version of the tool, but since it's a java program it works on linux, windows, and mac. It can be a little tricky to setup if your not a google searcher, but all in all after about 5 mins with the tool I think I have figured it out.
If your interested in giving it a try heres the info:
http://www.battlescribe.net/index.html
The data catalogue site (You'll need this to get the data files in the program. Pick the link that interest you.)

| Just downloaded this, Shawn. Thanks for sharing.
This works like a charm once you figure out how to import all the files.
Oh and did I mention the best part, compared to Army Builder? This is free!

| After having messed with this progam for just a little bit, I agree it is a good tool; for the experienced and well seasoned and rules savy player. However, It does not list out item info nor does it catch glitches and illegal combinations. It has not yet been tried enough to find obvious gaffs such as WHFB units not being able to take magic standards or a hero carrying a golf bag full of weapons. On the 40K side, I noticed that it will let me take as many psy. powers as I wish to click on. With a little help and tweeking, I think that this could be a real good format for building rosters, but still has a some ground to cover before I think it will see the acceptance, especially at the tournament scene, as Army Builder. That being said, it is always nice to have someone trying to broaden the market. | |

| Good points. We must remember it is very new. Army builder has a ten year head start!
In my mind I will work around an error or three for the price. If I don't have to deal with lone wolfs licensure for the program every time I have computer problems, or pay a yearly usage fee I am pleased.
It will come around as more people use it and data files are tweaked. For now it's perfect for people not playing in a tournament or those who are savvy with list building.

Been using the AB 2.2 for years now. No charge, files come out faster and are more accurate. The only reason they made AB 3, too many people cracked v2. If you can find it, I can tell you where to get the updates.

| I use AB as well (I have been since it first came out so many years ago) and there is certainly a cost for it. It's a free download but you have to pay to activate it.
As for faster data files, I really disagree. There is a several month delay for files for AB.
The necron file is already out for battle scribe. That's why I downloaded it in the first place.
I'm not saying BS is better, I am just saying check it out.

| Well that is true for Army Builder Version 3, but there is a large community that still uses version 2 and they do their own updates to the WHFB files, which typically are out within a week of any update. | |

Yeah, that's what I am saying. Version 2 is kept up by gamers for gamers. And if you can find AB2.2, the updates are FREE!!! And did I mention they are out faster than v3, and more accurate, and FREE? As long as v2 is supported, I have no need to use anything else. However, if do not have access to v2, then could be worth a look.

| If Battlescribe has anything going for it, it's the fact that it doesn't have that horrid mottle blue UI. | |
