 R Kroxigors woth the money

i have started lizardmen as my secondary army(my dads dark elves cant beat them) and am thinking of getting some Kroxigors, but i dont know whether to run them with the skinks, or on their own, so anybody that can tell me it would really b appreciated

Most people don't run them. For the points you spend on 3-6 kroxigor you don't get enough back for the points you spend. If you put them with skinks then people just murder the skinks and break you anyways.

I would proxy some rat ogres and try them out. They may be better in this edition. A mixed unit might turn out to be a decent flanking unit. Don't forget the horde rules. Just pick your fights and they should do fine.

You can also have a stegadon join this unit for devastating effect. I have been on the receiving end of this, so I know this from experience. So if you don't have a stegadon, get 2.

The other unit I recommend is the Razordons. A pack of three should help out with small units and skirmishers on whichever flank you decide to put them.

I think salamanders edge razordons out in this edition w the template rules and being able to march + fire.

Ridden Monsters cannot join units

Last version it was a smart way to play, but this edition makes that a NO NO!

At 350 points they are a little bit of a gamble. While, if it is an unscathed unit of six, they will provide you with 19 Str 6 attacks, they are only WS 3, which translates down to an average of 7 wounds on anything T 4 or lower. They will also be striking last against almost everything even guys with Great Weapons as they are In 1. That means that quite possibly you will be down a Krok or two before you even get to strike. If you take them they have to be careful what they go after and would most likely be most effective in a flank.

It depends on where your hunting pack is going to be. I see advantages to the salamanders against ranked units while the razordons against the smaller units on the flanks.

Salamanders have a S3 breath weapon with a -3 save, range is the flame template plus artillery dice.

Razordons have a S4 shot, 12" range, number of shots equal to artillery dice. Razordons can stand and shoot rolling 2 artillery dice for each Razordon while Salamanders cannot stand and shoot.

Stats and points are the same, the only difference is what is mentioned above. So that being said...

I will have a unit of each for my Lizardmen.

I also have some Kroxigors. I more than likely will use mine in units of skinks since my opponent will have to choose which unit type to attack. Do you go for combat rez and murder skinks, or do you attack the Kroxigors before they smash whatever is in front of them with 3 S6 attacks plus a stomp. Granted they are only WS3 though. Not a make or break unit, but worth consideration.

Salamanders are not the answer to the Hydra. Granted you will negate the regen of the hydra, but you are wounding it on 6's.

Put as many shots from skinks as possible into it, it won't save everything. Other options include Fireball from the Slann(no regen), Scar Vet with Jaguar Charm and Burning Blade(one shot wonder because more than likely the hydra with stomp on him). Or ram a Stegadon down its throat.

Only two solutions when someone brings a big stick, get a bigger stick or keep putting stuff in the sticks way. Don't be afraid to sacrifice something to keep it tied up or lead it away from the important stuff.

Salamanders will fry pretty much everything else besides the hydra. Razordons on the other hand can potentially do more wounds to a hydra than Salamanders.

In a lizardmen army neither the razordon or the salamander will stop a hydra.

Skinks, skinks, skinks, skinks.

That's how you'll get a hydra or any other big gribbly.
