I keep seeing this game pop up on different mini gaming sites. It looks intresting (from skimming the rules) and it's being published by FFG so I may pick it up. Anyway, anyone else intrested in this game?

I need to stop finding games lol.

I played a round of it at Gencon. It's ok, but not $120 ok IMHO.

If i'm going to play a minis game, i'll play a minis game.

true enough. I think I'm going to hold off for the time being now that i think about it.

I need to finish building out my WM army, Dwarves, Malifaux crew, and try and get my blood angels built out, oh and figure out what i need for my necrons besides a new codex.

Isn't Dust from the same world that has AT-43 and Tannhauser? I thought that stuff looked pretty cool, but it didn't spark any interest around here so I passed on it.

If i recall correctly AT-43 is set on an alien planet. As for Tannhäuser is set in an alternate world where WWI never ended.
Dust's setting is an alternate 1950 where everyone is developing new and more powerful weapons.

Dust it's self is another risk/axis&allies clone, but Dust Tactics looks kinda like 40k meets Descent.

There have been several games mentioned in this thread so I didn't want there to be any misconceptions.

CHG has not carried a copy of Dust Tactics to date (it just recently came out) and does not currently plan on carrying it until there is sufficient interest in the game. There are already several games like it in the shop that are not drawing any interest. World War IV is an example.

CHG did have a copy of Dust that stayed on the shelves for about a year and a half before it moved. I don't plan on keeping it on the shelf but will gladly order it for any interested players.

The Dust world and AT-43 have a common origin in that they were both developed by the same creative designer originally (Paolo Parente). Rackham decided that they wanted to go with a sci-fi theme rather than an alternate history theme, so they took those ideas and turned them into AT-43. The designer then took his original ideas and made the Dust world, which I believe has now included some comics, the Dust board game (which is sort of an advanced Risk), and now Dust tactics.

At one point Dust tactics was to have used the same rules as AT-43, and was supposed to be compatible, but I believe that idea was abandoned.

Dust is a world where the Germans uncovered alien tech in Antarctica in the late 30s, which allows them to end WWII with a truce in 1944. The game is then set in a cold war in the 50s where there are three competing factions between the old Axis, the west and the Communists. All three of them have now learned the secrets of the alien tech to the extent that they are using mecha and other weapons developed from it.

It's also a world where many of the officers in the conflict appear to be buxom young women who wear tank tops in Antarctica, but that seems to be a common thread in most alternate histories Razz

That's the real problem with games like those. They have such a high price point that shops don't want them sitting on the shelves and players don't feel like jumping in for $100 if they don't really know what the game is about.

Too bad FFG doesn't have a pilot program for their higher price box comes to let stores get a demo copy in cheaper to drum up interest.
